Safety
1. ALL RIDES BEGIN WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS, HELMETS, AND AN EMPTY BLADDER.
2. Know and use hand singles. Copies are available through the club to view. A member can sign the copy out and review at your convenience and return it for other members to use.
3. Ride Leader will hold a Riders meeting 1/2 hour prior to ride to: review the length of ride, type of roads, and how long to first gas stop, if known. Written directions and map to destination will be made available.
4. Motorcycles must be street legal and in safe operating condition.
5. All riders will ride in staggered formation when road conditions permit. On winding roads, narrow roads, construction sites, or while riding in rain, riders will move to single file formation and allow more room between riders. Use single file formation when common sense dictates. New riders will be placed towards the front of the group.
6. The Road Captain or Assistant Road Captain will be the first bike. No one in chapter is to pass the Road Captain. If there are more than 10 riders, the group will appoint a second Road Captain. This leader will control second group of riders. The group is kept together via cell phones, cb radios for those who have them. Pre select cb channel before ride. If the group is split up we will meet at the next stop during the ride. Do not speed to catch up with the group.
7. This chapter does not block intersections. All stop signs and traffic signals will be obeyed. The group is kept together via CB communications (channel 10), if available, or cell phones. Since not all motorcycles are equipped with a CB, when a rider makes a turn, it is his/her responsibility to be sure that the rider behind him/her can see where the turn is made.
8. In the event of a breakdown, the rider having trouble should raise his/her left arm straight above his/her head and pull off of road to a safe area. The rider directly behind should stop to assist. All other bikes following the rider in distress should continue on ride.
9. When a rider knows before the start of the ride that he/she will be leaving early, he/she should inform the Road Captain. If the rider decides during the ride to leave; he/she should raise his/her left hand above their head, make a circling motion and move to the right, out of formation. The following riders should resume staggered formation.
10. RIDE SAFE AND HAVE FUN.
